8. What
does the Film and Television Safety Code say about
Armourers?
What does the law say about Firearms on a Film
Set?
A.
The Australian Film and Television Safety Code provides
that only a recognised, Correctly Licensed Film Armourer
is allowed to provide firearms and act as the "On Set
Armourer".
No other person can be in charge of Firearms on
the Film Set.
The law, ( Firearms Act ) requires that
only a Correctly Licensed Film Armourer can provide
firearms and act as the "On Set Armourer" in the Film,
Television and Theatre Industry.
This is because only a
Correctly Licensed Armourer can give possession of a firearm to an
unlicensed person without that person committing an offence under the Firearms Act by being in such possession.
Actors or Film Makers are Not Exempt from the Firearms Act..
A Correctly Licensed Film Armourer Must Be On Set and In Control of the Firearms..
